Pitra Dosh in Vedic Astrology

Pitra means our 'ancestors' who died due to some unexpected circumstances.

They died due to an accident or disease. Their desire did not get fulfil and they become Pitra and now their influence is on your children.

There are a few methods by which you can resolve Pitra dosh.

You can understand Pitra Dosh in two ways:

a) By birth chart analysis

b) An incident occurred in your family

How does it form?

Look at the position of the 9th house in your horoscope or birth chart.

The 9th house is the house of the father, grandfather, ancestor, religion so check which planet is present in that house.

If Sun is present in your 9th house then it does not matter in which zodiac sign it is present. Just focus on the 9th house.

Also, Saturn or Rahu or Ketu joins with the Sun in the 9th house then we can say that Pitra Dosh is present in a birth chart although there is no mention of Pitra Dosh in Laghu Parashar.

University is still studying and researching about Pitra Dosh that how much does it has an impact on human beings.

To see Pitra dosh in a birth chart, look at the 9th house and see whether Saturn or Rahu or Ketu conjunct with Sun in the 9th house or not. Although, if Sun sits with Rahu or Ketu then it is a Grahan Dosh too.

Sometimes, Saturn gets set off with the Sun then Pitra Dosh get cancelled.

There is no role of aspects to determine Pitra dosh in Vedic Astrology. If Sun sits with Saturn or Rahu or Ketu in any houses in the birth chart then we can say that there is a mild Pitra Dosh present in a birth chart.

The Presence of Pitra Dosh in a birth chart does not mean that this Dosh will destroy a person life.

It has been seen that a person with Pitra Dosh gets struggle in their professional life. These people take more time to develop themselves as compared to other people.

They progress very slowly. This person get troubles in their chosen work/career. They face financial troubles many times in their life. They also face mental troubles or worries.

Remedy for Pitra Dosh:

Your Ancestor always wants respect from you. If you give respect to your Ancestor then they will always protect you in your hard times and help you in your success.

If you have Pitra Dosh in your birth chart then you should not eat food on Amavasya. Invite your family members to Amavasya. Cook any dish or sweets and remember your Pitra and dedicate that dish or sweets to your Pitra.

Distribute that dish or sweets among family members. Pray to them and take blessing from them to remove all evils which you are facing in your life.

b) If there is a Peepal tree near your home then you go there and light a lamp of ghee or til oil.

Do prayer to the Peepal tree on every Amavasya and roam around the Peepal tree seven times. If you do this remedy for at least 2 or 3 years then Pitra Dosh will be cancelled in your birth chart and your Pitra will be in your favour.

Apart from the above remedies, if you feed food to poor people on Amavasya then the ill effects of Pitra Dosh decrease and all struggles and troubles will go away.

Sometimes, in the particular birth chart for a particular Ascendant, we found the conjunction of Sun with Saturn or Rahu or Ketu in a house but these people did not get inauspicious or negative results of Pitra dosh. For example: For Taurus Ascendant, Saturn and Sun both are Yogakaraka and when Saturn and Sun sit in the 9th house for Taurus Ascendant then it will give excellent good and positive results and inauspicious effects of Pitra Dosh will not be received.
